constructivism

is it any issue to frown upon the idea of necessarily loving your future housemates? the feel i get is that the formal conception of living together has suddenly made all of us 'closer'. does it? not for me. it feels the same to me. nothing much has changed. nothing clandestine but none of the soulmate kinship turd either. we're just gonna be living under the same roof. to each his private space, and well, of cos there'd be civil niceties all around. it's just not going to be a case where cohabitation provides a growing self-definition of 'us' as a valid familial space with a discernible affectionate voice. haha got that off this paper i'm currently reading about regionalism and identity. here's the original sentence 'Regionalism provides a “growing regional self-definition of ‘East Asia’ as a valid economic space with a discernible political voice.” '

london in the past week.

Here's the week spent at London, in pictures. First off, the killers concert. The fountain outside Wembley arena was probably the best theatrics the concert had to offer. Don't get me wrong. Their music was great as usual, but they just sucked at theatrics and showy stuff. Pretty fountain though. The lights change colours!

Then there was meeting Cheryl and Uncle Ronald when they popped by from France. Met lots of celebrities that day. Had a few fun shots with them! Jamie Oliver was the guest chef at the restaurant so I had one taken with him...

Then there was Sarah Michelle Gellar who happened to be there too! Took one with her, though she got distracted when the camera went off, arh well..not too nice to ask for another shot.

Johnny Depp! He was at the restaurant too! But he thought it was a fancy dress! What an idiot...

Wilko...the most irritating rugby player of today. Tried to piss me off with that stupid duck praying pose of his...

Did I mention we made it to the cover of Iconic with Kate Moss?! Cool huh.

Finally, Sir Charlie Chaplin was nice enough to come out of his grave for a brief shot. Cute huh..

Then it was over to Camden Town over the weekend with Yeemeng. Camden Town (aka Punk Town) has the coolest shops and food in London! Serious ecclectic mix. Here's a shot of fashion they spot. Didn't snap any punks though. Figured they might hook me with one of their space boots complete with giant horn at the toe (would be plenty ouch to get one of those in yr groin!).
Arhhhh! And the pretty Fender shoes I bought from Camden Town. They were much cheaper than the price at Oxford Street...You didn't read wrong. They're FENDER -- the guitar manufacturers actually make shoes too! Mind you it's a really nice line of shoes they have there. Just might be tempted to get a second pair.

wimbledon, london.

just got the dvd for wimbledon today. i love the show! it's definitely one of my favourite movies. it's not just about kirsten dunst looking stunning and absolutely adorable in the film, or how paul bettany's character's so witty and has a really nice accent. the movie really captures the lovely sites and charm of london! it does! images of the london eye, the thames, tower bridge, the dorchester, kensington gardens and brighton (ok not quite london but still amazingly beautiful!)!! i'm all psyched to visit london again..and it won't be long! just next week.

Prep up!

Prep look's in fashion now! In my wardrobe at least. Picked up a few v-neck fleeces over at Birmingham two days back. Now to leave the hair to grow out... Haha! Maybe i'll put up some photos of the clothes. If there's a photo opportunity of course..

I'm looking forward to going down to Brighton later this week. Need a refreshing change away from the mundane life around Warwick. Late Feb thru till end of term seems packed with visits from friends outside of UK...Then there's lunch/dinner with Cheryl and Uncle Ronald next Wed, Raffles Nite (10 Mar), and eventually Jieming coming over in Apr! My immediate wants are to visit Brighton, Edinburgh and Blackpool about UK. Then come Easter, it'll be France and Germany.

All that's to come. But for now, i just need fresh retreat from my room. Watch 'ace wo nerae' on crunchyroll.com guys. It's quite a sweet jap tennis drama (only 9 episodes), with even sweeter actresses in it. She's really damn cute. Hahaha

whitewash everything and it all looks at peace.

How's this for a day: waking up and drawing the curtains to see it's completely white everywhere, snow gently floating to the ground; making huge snowmen, having snowball fights to and from lectures, throwing snowballs at taunting bus drivers, ambushing friends outside their accommodations, and simply trudging through soft white snow. Inches of it. There was a slight calming effect to it all. Snow angels, studying the intricate patterns of the tiny snowflakes, taking in the sedate surroundings of white.

I'm missing home now. Especially the amber familiarity of night time Singapore. Driving through night time Singapore has a comforting effect upon me. I haven't really figured out how to phrase it in words, but it does have an effect on me. Maybe it's just the lack of a city life? There's something awfully missing in my life right now. Can't quite put a finger to it. Or maybe I just don't want to. Hmm...

magic bunnies and cousins.

my mum just beat david blaine. she pulled a cousin out of a magic hat for me. imagine the extreme contortions my face went thru upon entering my rm and reading a text fr my mum saying "do u know so and so from warwick? she's your cousin!" ommf-are-u-shitting-me-wth? that's just got to be the most random piece of news ever!!!

and to have it resemble a chinese period drama, when i called her to verify, she was like "yea found out at the wedding i attended tt she's my cousin's daughter. so u two take care of each other yea? her mum also says u can help her move her stuff to her new place in october (what do i stand to gain from acknowledging this relation?!!)" and how does dear old yeemeng react to it? he roars in laughter and goes "you should've gone for her!! then it'd be so drama when u wake up with yr cousin next to u" what a shithead.

Hi mum! if u're reading this, maybe u could pull out a car from that magic hat of yours...? i promise i'll take care of this magic bunny this time! hahaha
